Projects
In order to continuously improve our products and processes, to develop innovations for natural fiber composite applications and because we are never satisfied with the status quo, we are involved in numerous research and development projects.
Hemptopcut
Process development for the production of hemp straw with adapted growth height and stem thickness for the development of high-performance fiber qualities.
Project duration: 18 months / 15.05.2024 - 15.12.2025
Total volume: 170,305€ *
The aim is to develop a process that limits the stem length and diameter through targeted interventions in the early growth stage of fiber hemp in order to achieve more homogeneous plant growth, optimized retting conditions and higher fiber qualities - by doubling the number of stems.
*The grant will be financed from the Just Transition Fund (JTF) and
Tax funds are made available on the basis of the budget approved by the Saxon State Parliament.
70% of this was funded by the SAB (€119,213.50) and co-financed by the European Union.

HEAF
HighEndAgroFiber - Development and establishment of a technology for the processing of textile hemp long fibers in the Leipzig district
Project duration: 06/2023 - 05/2025
Total volume: EUR 390,000
The aim of the project is to build a plant for the production of high-performance hemp long fibers, embedded in an agricultural and developing industrial environment, as the first plant in Germany with a high unique selling point and economic potential, based on existing and ever-increasing industrial demand.
*The project is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection and the Entrepreneurship

BIOCOATTEX
Bio-based hybrid coatings for interior and functional textiles
Project duration: 03/2023 - 02/2026
Total volume: 180,700 EUR
The overall objective of the BioCoatTex project is the development of novel coatings based on
Bio-based ormocers for the wet-chemical finishing of technical textiles with high functionality. The aim is to achieve high flexibility in the creation of combined intrinsic material properties such as increased abrasion resistance and fiber-matrix adhesion, as well as specific properties such as water and dirt resistance or flame retardancy. The combination of technical textiles and biogenic coatings makes it possible to
to become increasingly independent of fossil fuels and take a decisive step towards
to move towards a fully circular economy and CO2 neutrality.
*The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture and supervised by the Agency for Renewable Resources (FNR).

Hemp tape
Novel staple fiber-reinforced semi-finished products with unidirectional fiber orientation (UD tapes) based on application-optimized hemp fibers and biopolymers as a resource-efficient alternative for GRP components
Project duration: 07/2022 - 06/2025
Total volume: 320,000 EUR*
The overall objective of the project is to develop a resource-efficient and thus low-CO2 emission material
Alternative to industrially widely used glass fiber reinforced thermoplastics for structural
High-performance applications based on biopolymers and regionally available hemp fibers
For this purpose, developed manufacturing technologies for the production of
Semi-finished flat products with unidirectional fiber arrangement on a pilot plant scale can be used.
These and further processes are being examined in the project with regard to their suitability for series production,
optimized and thus developed further to a pilot level.
*The project is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection
